The "Saint-Marc" is the traditional feast of the AOC Châteauneuf-du-Pape which occasionally celebrates its patron saint but also a competition intended to reward the best wines of the appellation.
Originally Saint Mark had a religious, popular and rural dimension. During the last centuries, a procession went at dawn through the vines to the three oratories of the town which are dedicated to it. Leaving the church, his statue was carried by young winegrowers during processions. At noon, the villagers went to the banks of the Rhône to have a meal together. Each winemaker gave their best bottles to taste, obviously stating that it was the best wine of the year. The party lasted until the end of the night.
Since 1966, this celebration has taken the form of an approved competition in which juries made up of professionals taste and select anonymously the best wines from the samples taken from winemakers and merchants.
We are proud to receive an honorary diploma in each of our participations since 2013, attesting that our Châteauneuf-du-Pape is one of the ten best wines in the appellation.
