Vacqueyras

Between the Dentelles de Montmirail on one side and the Ouvèze on the other, the Vacqueyras AOC is mainly located on the Terrasse des Garrigues, a stony terrace made up of pebbles, gravels, sands and clay. Only two municipalities are registered in the appellation area, Vacqueyras and Sarrians.

The AOC Vacqueyras vineyard, which takes its name from the Latin Valléa Quadreria; valley of stones, extends over more than 1400 hectares. Its robust, powerful wines with a great aromatic richness, raised it to the rank of Cru of the Rhône Valley in 1990. The AOC Vacqueyras has also been the Official Cru of the Festival d'Avignon since 1998.
